Arrived at Medan airport to catch my Fireflyz flight to Penang and was greeted by a cute little twin propellored plane. Take-off was impressive as the plane seemed to give more acceleration/thrust that the normal jets that I am used to... :-)

Arrived in Penang and found the transport system nice and easy to use so found a nice room
recommended, (by an English couple that I met in Indonesia), at the 75 Guest House in Georgetown, it has a nice 10 bed dorm, (only 4 of us in at the moment), for 2quid(RM10)/night. Back travelling give the chance to meet up with other backpackers and exchange info. Chatted with a nice couple from Westhoughton, (UK), Richard & Georgie, (UK) and an
American Buddhist Monk called Brother Mark. The next day we had a Tropical rainstorm which, although it flooded the streets, brought a welcome coolness to the air.
Had a Lazy week here chatting to many other travellers, here seems to be another 'hang out hub' for people renewing their Thai visas and people living in and around south East Asia. Must admit that for a city, it is a nice place to stay for a while...... :-)
5am van to Khota Baru, 5hour drive then Speedboat ferry to Parhentian Islands.. Unbelievably Stunning place...
Got a little wooden 2 bed shack by the beach at Sympony, for 6
quid/day so was
only 3 quid each, when shared, with beach/sea view. ...
Was sick, (BAD chest), for the first week but did some Healing Meditation and felt much
Better, in fact, was Gobsmackked at the result. The next day went on 3hr snorkelling trip & was so IMPRESSED that the following day I went on the full day trip.... Was STUNNING. Saw an unbelievable amount of tropical fish of all kinds and colours.... Literally thousands in view at the same time, i swam away from the group to attract
predators, lol, and was circled by half a dozen, 4 - 6 foot Reef Sharks (vegetarian kind ,, LOL), Saw Stingrays & Manta Rays & Barracuda & Giant Turtles, Huge banks of Brightly Coloured Coral ,,, SWIMMING AMONGST THEM WAS REALLY AMAZING....
FOUND NEMO
:-)
10 days went really quickly ,,, :-(.
Speedboat to Khota Baru then bus to Thai Border, walked across border, signed into Thailand then jumped on the train at Sungai Kolok with no problems at all, a very easy and hassel free crossing. Caught the Northbound train to Surathani a journey of 600 Miles for 230 baht (5 quid). LOL,,,

Sounds wonderful. Are'nt prop planes great! Flew in one from Exeter to Charles De Gaulle a couple of years ago, it is better than a jet. Not so high so you see more. Have fun on your travels.
